ASDA DROPS FUEL PRICE

Same low price across the UK and Northern Ireland

ASDA will bring welcome relief to millions of drivers across the country by announcing that it will drop petrol prices from midnight tonight (00.01 15 August 2007).

The move will see unleaded fall to 91.9p - a drop of two pence per litre at all of its 167 petrol stations across the UK.

Weak US gasoline demand has resulted in falls in European wholesale prices, enabling petrol pump prices to be cut.

"As costs fall, we are the first retailer to pass cost reductions back to our customers while others continue to hold on to excessive margins." said ASDA director, David Miles.

On top of this price reduction, all ASDA credit and store cardholders can benefit from a further two pence per litre discount when paying for fuel with their cards.

ASDA's consistently low fuel prices and national pricing stance differs from other forecourt operators, where prices are varied in line with local competition.

This means drivers often have to pay more for their fuel if there isn't an ASDA forecourt nearby.
